Does Chemotherapy Hurt?

My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had surgery to remove the lump, and now she needs chemotherapy.  She took a while to recover from the surgery, and she is very afraid that the chemotherapy is going to cause her more pain.  So my question to you is, "does chemotherapy hurt"?
