WomanI have been having pain that occurs at rest in the middle of my chest. I am a 29 year old girl. My doctor ran a few heart tests and told me it was not my heart. He thinks I have fibromyalgia. What is that and how does he know this?

Fibromyalgia is most common in younger women about your age and into the 30’s and 40s. People with fibromyalgia tend to get pain throughout their entire body, but certainly it can be in the chest area, and it is commonly associated with costochondritis, or inflammation of the chest wall. Pain is also common in the shoulders and neck. Fibromyalgia is associated with sleeping problems, depression, and bowel problems, such as constipation. It commonly starts during a stressful time in life, such as after the death of a loved one. You should consider seeing a Rheumatologist for a clear diagnosis.
