However, your dental care doesn’t end there. Did you know that you need to care for your toothbrush? While it doesn’t require a lot of time to care for your toothbrush, it is important that you follow these suggestions. Caring for your toothbrush will keep your teeth healthier and looking their best. Here are some guidelines the American Dental Association (ADA) has provided that make caring for your toothbrush quite simple:
- Rinse your toothbrush after using
- Store upright and allow to dry
- If your toothbrush is stored near another toothbrush, do not allow the bristles to touch
- Do not store your toothbrush in a closed container
- Replace your toothbrush every three to four months
- If your bristles are worn sooner than that, replace the toothbrush
