Early Cervical Cancer and Having Children

HE_+Ask+the+DoctorI am only 27 and just got married.  We were planning to have a baby, so I went to my gynecologist and she said that I have early cervical cancer.  She said I need surgery.  Will I still be able to have babies?  I feel so bad for my husband; he is such a good man and would be such a great dad. I am angry; I don’t know why I got this.

I know this is a difficult time to be diagnosed with cancer at a young age, however, if your cervical cancer is early, just as your physician said, it is easy to treat and has a high cure rate.  Lucky for you, most of the time, your doctors will be able to spare your uterus, so you will be able to have children.  There are now minimally invasive surgeries that can get rid of the cancer cells on your cervix, and maintain the integrity of your uterus, so you will still be able to have children.  You will be fine.
