An apple a day keeps the doctor away. If only it were that simple.

While eating a single apple may not do the trick, there are a number of easy things you can do to keep yourself healthy. Really. Read on to learn how to take good care of yourself.

Eat a healthy diet

This may seem like a no-brainer, but it’s true. Yes, it’s ok to splurge once in a while and eat fried food and decadent desserts, but for the majority of the time, try to eat a sensible diet. You know, like you were taught in school. Eat a lot of veggies and fruits, some proteins, and a smaller amount of carbs.

Exercise on a regular basis

I know, you’re busy, it’s boring, whatever. Stop making excuses and fit some exercise into your schedule. It can be a simple as taking the stairs at the office, walking for half of your lunch break, or trying a new gym class. Encourage a friend or your partner to join you, and it becomes a social outing!

Don’t smoke

Another simple one. If you haven’t started smoking, congratulations. If you have try to wean yourself off of cigarettes. Your lungs will thank you, as well as your clothes, your skin, teeth, and nails. Not only will you feel better, you’ll look better also.

Get a good night’s sleep

This one is a bit trickier. Different people have different sleep needs. The general rule of thumb is eight hours of sleep. However, some people need only six, and others need ten. To determine your amount needed, try to go to bed at the same time every night and see when your body naturally wakes up. (Try this on a non-work day!) Once you determine the amount you need, count backward to figure out what time you need to go to bed.

If you have difficulty sleeping, you may want to consider a supplement. There are many options out there to choose from, for instance, kratom tends to be sedative so could be used as a sleep aid.

Visit your doctor as needed

It’s ideal to visit your doctor annually for a thorough physical. This will include in-room tests, like blood pressure, and may also include bloodwork, such as STD tests. Of course, if you’re not feeling well for more than a day or two or have a fever, schedule a checkup.

It really isn’t that hard to help stay in good health. Follow these suggestions above for a happier, healthier you.
