My brother’s little boy is three and was diagnosed with autism recently. I have been reviewing all of the possible causes of autism, and it seems as though no one is sure. What is your opinion, and is there any truth that the vaccinations can cause it?

This topic if frequently debated, and there is quite a bit of information, and misinformation, about the causes of autism. You are absolutely correct; no one is sure what the cause of autism is. As you may know, autism is really a group of related problems that all have at their core, some form of learning or developmental issues. There have been many associations with autism, but when scientifically studied, they have not been well-proven. This is certainly the case with vaccinations. There is not convincing data to support the connection of vaccines with autism. More importantly, there have been significant advances in the therapy to treat autism, and most of these children will grow up to become productive members of society.
